Plastic Container Manufacturing Process Molding Process Control
Plastic container manufacturing process involves multiple stages, from raw material selection to finished product delivery. Each step requires strict control to ensure product quality, production efficiency, and safety. The following are the molding process controls in plastic container manufacturing:
1. Temperature Control
Injection Molding: The barrel temperature needs to be adjusted according to the type of plastic to avoid excessively high temperatures leading to degradation or excessively low temperatures leading to poor flowability. For example, the barrel temperature for PP is typically 180-220℃.
Blow Molding: The preform temperature needs to be uniform to prevent uneven wall thickness caused by localized overheating or undercooling. For example, the preform temperature for PET needs to be controlled between 85-95℃.
Thermoforming: The heating temperature needs to soften the sheet material without over-melting it to avoid deformation or perforation.
2. Pressure Control
Injection Molding: The injection pressure needs to be adjusted according to the plastic's flowability and the mold structure to avoid excessive pressure leading to flash or insufficient pressure leading to material shortage.
Blow Molding: The blow molding pressure needs to be moderate to ensure the preform fully expands and adheres tightly to the mold, while avoiding excessive pressure that could cause the container to rupture.
3. Time Control
Cooling Time: Sufficient time is required for complete solidification of the container to prevent deformation after demolding. For example, the cooling time for injection molded containers typically accounts for 50%-70% of the entire cycle.
Molding Cycle: Optimize the time for each stage (e.g., heating, molding, cooling) to improve production efficiency, but avoid quality degradation due to excessively short cycle times.
4. Speed Control
Injection Molding: Injection speed needs to be adjusted according to the plastic's flowability and mold structure to avoid excessive speed causing eddies or excessively slow speed causing cold material.
Blow Molding: Parison extrusion speed needs to be stable to avoid uneven wall thickness caused by speed fluctuations.
