Common Classifications of Injection Molding Molds

Injection molding molds are the core tooling in the injection molding process that give plastic products a complete structure and precise dimensions. By injecting molten plastic into a closed cavity, cooling and shaping, plastic parts are mass-produced. They are widely used in automobiles, electronics, medical, home furnishing and other fields.

Injection molding molds can be divided into three categories according to accuracy and use to adapt to different production needs:

1. Conventional injection molding mold

It is suitable for mass production of general plastic parts such as daily necessities and packaging containers. When using the cold runner system, the mold structure is simple but the loss of raw materials is high. Hot runner technology can reduce waste, but will increase the cost of the mold. The typical processing cycle is 20 to 60 seconds, and the material adaptability is strong.

2. Precision injection molding mold

It is used to manufacture mobile phone casings, medical equipment and other products that requires ±10um precision requirements. The mold is equipped with a professional temperature control system and an in-mold pressure sensor, which has good molding stability. The multi-cavity mold design can control the temperature difference of each cavity within 2°C. The processing cycle is long, and it is usually used with a robot to complete automated part picking.

3. Special injection molding molds

To meet special molding needs, common subdivision types:

Two-color injection mold: combined molding of two materials by rotating the mold core

Gas-assisted injection mold: can form a hollow structure inside the product, saving raw materials

Insert injection mold: It can achieve one-time molding of plastic-wrapped metal inserts.
