Detailed Introduction of Pourable Plastic for Molds

pourable plastic for molds

Pourable plastic for molds mainly include epoxy resin, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), unsaturated polyester, phenolic resin, and polyamide. These materials undergo polymerization or polycondensation reactions within the mold through static casting molding processes to form customized products. The following is a detailed introduction to these materials:

1. Epoxy Resin: Before curing, it is a linear thermoplastic. After adding a curing agent, it crosslinks into a three-dimensional polymer. It has advantages such as chemical resistance, heat resistance, good insulation properties, low molding shrinkage, and superior mechanical properties compared to phenolic resin. However, it has poor weather resistance, low impact resistance, and is brittle. It is used as a binder for metallic and non-metallic materials, for encapsulating electronic components, and for casting various molds.

2. Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA): An important raw material for acrylic sheets, it has high transparency, good optical properties, and processing performance. Acrylic sheets can be produced through single-piece casting or continuous casting.

3. Unsaturated Polyester: It has excellent molding and processing performance and corrosion resistance. When combined with reinforcing materials such as glass fiber, it produces fiberglass products, widely used in construction, automobiles, shipbuilding, and other fields.

4. Phenolic resin: Before curing, it is a thermoplastic; after adding a curing agent, it becomes a thermosetting plastic. It has advantages such as heat resistance, flame retardancy, and corrosion resistance. However, it is brittle and has low impact strength. It is used to manufacture gears, bearings, guide wheels, silent gears, bearings, electrical structural materials, and electrical insulation materials.

5. Polyamide: It has advantages such as high strength, high wear resistance, and self-lubricating properties. Through static casting molding, it can produce products such as MC nylon, which are widely used in machinery, electronics, and automotive industries.

Qingdao Xueyu Molding Products Co., Ltd. is mainly engaged in the design and manufacturing of injection molds, injection molding and secondary processing (spraying, pad printing, ultrasonic welding, stamping), etc. For more information about pourable plastic for molds, please contact us.
