Liquid Silicone Rubber Injection Molding Process Principle

Liquid silicone rubber injection molding is an advanced manufacturing process that rapidly molds complex, high-quality products by injecting liquid silicone rubber material into a mold under high temperature and pressure. The Liquid silicone rubber injection molding process mainly includes the following steps:

1. Material Preparation: LSR material is usually supplied in a two-component form, A and B. Component A contains the base compound and a platinum catalyst, while component B contains a crosslinking agent and an inhibitor. Before use, they need to be mixed in a 1:1 ratio using a static mixer.

2. Metering and Mixing: The ratio of components A and B is precisely controlled using a metering pump, and the components are thoroughly mixed using a static mixer. The mixed compound then enters the barrel of the injection molding machine.

3. Injection Molding: In the injection molding machine, the compound is heated to a certain temperature (usually not exceeding several tens of degrees above room temperature) and then injected into a preheated mold through a plunger or screw. The mold temperature is usually set in a high range (e.g., 120℃ to 200℃) to ensure rapid vulcanization and curing of the compound within the mold.

4. Demolding and Post-processing: After curing, the mold is automatically opened, and the finished product is obtained. Some products may requires  post-processing, such as secondary vulcanization or surface treatment, to further improve performance.
