What are the Principles Behind the Plastic Formation Process?
Plastic formation process is transforming plastic raw materials into products of desired shapes through physical or chemical methods. Based on the molding principle, it can be mainly divided into the following methods:
1. Injection Molding
Principle: The plastic raw material is heated to a molten state and injected into a mold cavity under high pressure. After cooling and solidification, the product is demolded.
2. Extrusion Molding
Principle: Utilizing the pushing pressure generated by the rotation of a screw, heated molten plastic is continuously molded through a die into a product of the desired cross-sectional shape.
3. Blow Molding
Principle: Molten plastic is extruded or injection molded into a tubular preform. Air is then blown into the preform, causing it to expand and fit into the mold cavity. After cooling, a hollow product is obtained.
4. Calendering
Principle: Plastic raw material is continuously molded into a film or sheet under the action of extrusion and stretching through a series of heated rollers.
5. Compression Molding
Principle: Plastic raw material is heated and pressurized in a mold, and after a certain time, it is molded into a product.
6. Other Molding Methods
Thermoforming:
Principle: Heating thermoplastic sheets to a softened state, then using vacuum suction or mechanical pressure to fit them into a mold cavity, followed by cooling to obtain the finished product.
Foam Molding:
Principle: Expanding plastic using chemical foaming agents or physical methods to form a porous structure.
3D Printing:
Principle: Creating three-dimensional objects by layering plastic materials.
