1. Classification by Structure

Single Parting Surface Mold (Two-Plate): The most common type, with cavities located on the moving and fixed molds respectively.

Double Parting Surface Mold (Three-Plate): Adds an intermediate plate for removing solidified material from the gating system; suitable for point gate molds.

Mold with Movable Insert: Handles internal and external concave structures; the movable insert separates after the product moves out of the mold.

Lateral Parting Core Pulling Mold: Achieves lateral core pulling of the side core using inclined guide pillars or hydraulic cylinders; suitable for products with side holes or side concavities.

Automatic Thread Removal Mold: Utilizes a rotating mechanism or transmission device to drive the threaded core to rotate, achieving automatic demolding of threaded products.

Multi-Layer Mold: Composed of multiple overlapping two-plate molds; suitable for shallow, small parts, but with longer cycle times.

Runnerless molds: Including hot runner and insulated runner molds, these reduce material buildup in the gating system and improve production efficiency.

Two-component (two-color) molds: Used for producing products made from different plastics or color combinations; requires a dedicated two-component injection molding machine.

2. Classification by Molding Material

Thermoplastic molds: Suitable for thermoplastics such as PE, PP, and PS; can be repeatedly heated and molded.

Thermosetting molds: Suitable for thermosetting plastics such as phenolic and epoxy resins; cannot be reheated to soften after molding.
